Basic course in international humanitarian law starting in Helsinki 3 September

Did you know that even wars have rules?
The Humanitarian Law Group of the North and Central Helsinki branch is organizing an English-language course in international humanitarian law (IHL) this autumn. The course is free of charge for participants.
The course consists of seven modules, each held as a separate training session. Previously organized as a two-day training, the basic course in humanitarian law is now divided into modules, making it more flexible to complete. Participants can choose which modules to attend or take part in all of them. Those who complete the entire course may receive a completion mark in the training register.
- The course content corresponds to the two-day training, but by dividing it into seven modules, we’ve added more time for discussion and learning, explains trainer Katja Vuorensyrjä. She also wanted to leave the option to attend individual evenings.
The course will be held on seven Wednesday evenings from September 3 to November 19, 2025, at the district office in Helsinki, located at Pitäjänmäentie 14.
