HUP’s Executive Director Tapani Tulkki introduces himself

I’m a long-time civic organization actor. In addition to a long-standing interest in scouting, I’ve been involved in various volunteer roles in different organizations. Later, civic engagement also became my profession, and I’ve worked for over 20 years in various leadership roles within organizations.

At the heart of my own everyday volunteer experience is a 20-year background in scouting, leading weekly children’s groups. The best memories are the trips, camps, and hikes – in good weather and sometimes in more challenging conditions, with all their little mishaps.

I hold a Master’s degree in Political Science and have also completed an Executive MBA in business management alongside my work. I’m also a Red Cross delegate, although I haven’t yet received a delegate assignment – but perhaps calmer times in organizational development will return, and “organizational development missions” will come up.

For the past four years, I’ve served as Director of Volunteer Activities at the Mannerheim League for Child Welfare. Before that, I worked as a Development Manager at HUP and most recently as Head of the Organizational Development Unit at the central office. Developing civic and organizational activities is not only important but also truly interesting and rewarding for those involved – especially for all those who take responsibility.

The special significance of the Red Cross surely needs no explanation for the readers of this – it’s absolutely wonderful to return here and to be able to do this valuable work with all of you.
