Join Kilometrikisa cycling challenge!

Cycling is a sustainable way to move – it benefits the body, the mind and the climate.
We are once again taking part in the summer Kilometrikisa cycing challenge as a district team from 1 May to 30 September 2026, and we invite everyone to join!
In our district, we have dedicated the month of April to promoting more sustainable movement. The Kilometre Challenge is a fun incentive for cycling, and over just a few years we have significantly improved our placement. In 2023, we reached position 1807 in the small series, and in 2025 we placed 870th.
Can we make it into the top 800 this time?
How to join HUP’s team
We especially invite volunteers, members and staff who cycle within the Helsinki and Uusimaa district area to join the district team. You can join HUP’s team, HUP’s Cyclists, at https://kilometrikisa.fi/teams/join/ after first creating a Kilometrikisa account for yourself.
- Create an account on the Kilometre Challenge website.
- Search for the team HUPin polkijat and select it. Enter the team join code.
The join code for HUP’s Cyclists is: hup2026 - Remember to log your kilometres!
You can track your own progress as well as your team’s total on the team page. There, you can also share encouraging comments with your teammates.
Create your own team and also take part in the Chain Reaction
If you already have a work group, group of friends, club or organisation that is participating in the Kilometrikisa, you are of course welcome to choose that team. Each person can take part in only one team, so the choice may feel difficult – the most important thing is that you join in!
By participating in the Chain Reaction alongside the Kilometrikisa, your team can also support the Red Cross’s climate work.
Indoor cycling also matters
The Kilometrikisa encourages people to cycle from place to place, which is why kilometres cycled indoors or on stationary bikes are not included in the official results. However, if you are only able to cycle on an exercise bike or similar equipment and would still like to take part in the Kilometrikisa, you are very welcome to join HUP’s team.
You can report your indoor cycling kilometres directly to HUP’s environmental programme coordinator at: heidi.hellman@redcross.fi
We can then count these kilometres separately in our team summary.
