Continuous data collection model and Branch clinics

Since the beginning of 2026, the Finnish Red Cross has followed the continuous data collection model for event reporting.
In practice, continuous data collection means that after each activity involving encounters, a volunteer or district employee completes a short event report using a mobile phone or computer. The report is sent immediately to the organization’s shared event statistics. The report can be completed in Finnish, Swedish, or English.
An event report is completed for
- activities that involve direct encounters with people receiving assistance
- activities involving external participants
- events that take place weekly (a separate report for each occurrence)
An event report is not completed for
- occasions where only volunteers are present, such as trainings or meetings
- activities primarily reported through another channel, for example one required by a funder
Support for branches regarding continuous data collection
During spring 2026, the national office organizes Branch Clinics every other Monday and Thursday. These sessions address questions, development ideas, and good practices.
Logged-in users can find Branch Clinics ('osastoklinikka') in Oma event search. Log in, search for 'osastoklinikka', and register for a session that suits you!
More detailed instructions and additional information about the continuous data collection model can be found on Volunteer info (in Finnish/Swedish).
