Volunteering is the foundation of our activities
Everyone is welcome to join the activities of the Red Cross. There's surely something suitable for you too!

Oma Red Cross is a platform for Red Cross volunteering, where after signing up, you can join local and national groups and register for events, trainings, and meetings. You can register for events in Oma even without logging in.

Could one of these be your role in the Finnish Red Cross?
As a volunteer, you give your time to help others, as much as you want. We provide you with training and orientation for the volunteer task you choose, and you can learn new skills according to your interests.
The easiest way to become a volunteer is to join a local meeting, training, or activity introduction. Check out the event announcements in Oma.
The activities of the Red Cross are based on voluntarism. Volunteers plan, develop, and manage local activities and participate in key roles in decision-making at all levels of our organization. For volunteer roles with the most responsibility, membership in the Finnish Red Cross is required.
Have you already been involved in Red Cross activities and feel that you could train others in the skills needed for our volunteer work?
We expect our volunteer trainers to have the ability to work well with different kinds of people, knowledge of the basic principles of the Red Cross, and a desire to help strengthen our organization’s volunteer activities.

As a member, you enable volunteer aid work, as membership fees are used for training volunteers, local activities, and developing volunteer work.
Some of our organization’s responsible roles, such as the chairperson or a board member of a local branch, require membership in our organization.
Being a member of the Red Cross is also a statement in support of humanity. The Red Cross helps those who cannot help themselves or are in particularly vulnerable positions - impartially, independently, and selflessly. We are more credible the more people want to make a difference with us.
