The Venezuela earthquakes and the Hunger Day campaign

We are currently raising funds for the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to support emergency relief efforts following the devastating earthquakes that struck Venezuela on 24 June 2026. A relief worker has been deployed from Finland, and €500,000 has been allocated from the Disaster Relief Fund to assist those affected by the earthquakes.

The Red Cross humanitarian work is built on volunteering and made possible by independent funding. Resources can be mobilised quickly through the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, which is supported by voluntary donations. This ensures that aid remains independent and can be directed according to needs and Red Cross principles.

Volunteer on Hunger Day and support the Disaster Relief Fund

Donations to the Disaster Relief Fund can be made throughout the year. Once a year, at the end of September, the nationwide Hunger Day campaign is organised to strengthen fundraising and raise awareness of the Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund and humanitarian work.

Many local branches are already recruiting collectors for this autumn’s Hunger Day campaign. You can find information about Hunger Day events in Oma, where you can also sign up as a collector or request more information about an event that interests you.

Join us as a Hunger Day collector! Together, we make rapid assistance possible when it is needed most.
