Autumn brings new features to Oma as well

As the autumn season begins, it's a good idea to start by checking Oma: are there any new volunteers waiting there? And does the system look a little different from before?

After the summer, it is a great time to welcome new volunteers and help them find their place in the Red Cross. Any enquiries sent to your branch through Oma can be easily answered within the system.

Communicate through Oma

Oma is a valuable tool for reaching both new and current volunteers. Share information about volunteer opportunities, upcoming events and trainings, and encourage people to get involved. It is also worth reminding people that Red Cross membership is an easy way to support local activities.

Invite people to join Hunger Day

As Hunger Day approaches, it is time to invite everyone to take part as collectors. Branches are encouraged to publish their Hunger Day event in Oma by 16 August.

For help and inspiration in creating a Hunger Day event in Oma, join the training Using Oma for Hunger Day on 11 August 2026. A recording will soon be available on the Hunger Day guidance page in Volunteer Info.

It is also a good idea to publish a news item about your branch's Hunger Day activities on your branch website. There and on social media, you can easily share the link to your Oma event and direct everyone interested to register in the same place.

Learn or refresh your skills

In autumn 2026, Oma will receive a refreshed look and new features. Training sessions are available both for key volunteers and for all volunteers who use Oma.

The trainings last 45 minutes and are held in Finnish on Teams starting at 5:00 PM. Please register via the provided links no later than one day before the training.

Network with others

On 26 October 2026 from 5:30 to 7:20 PM, HUP will host a meeting for branch volunteer coordinators, membership coordinators and Oma administrators. You can participate either at the district office (Pitäjänmäentie 14, Helsinki) or online via Teams. Please register through Oma by 25 October.

Oma support

Instructions are available on the Oma support pages in Volunteer Info.

In Oma, you can also join the open Oma Punainen Risti -käyttjät group, where you can quickly get answers to technical questions and share feedback and suggestions.

Support for using Oma is also available from the district's Oma administrators: hup.neuvonta@redcross.fi
